I want to preface that I am not a mental health professional and that these are simply things that have helped me.
As someone who struggles with anxiety, I am relieved when I see that the stigma around mental health is not as hush-hush as it used to be. These are gift ideas for your significant other, but they could be given to friends too. Regardless of whether you struggle with mental health, I think most of us could use a little relaxation. These are all things I have received that have helped me, and I wish I knew about them sooner!
1.) Writing prompt journals. Writing prompts require you to fully be in the moment. They can be so simple, such as asking you a question and having you write for 10 minutes with a timer. There are hundreds on amazon, and they can be found in stores like Target, Barnes and Nobles, etc. I received one on Christmas that has become a part of my daily routine. It is called "Healing Through Words" and is by bestselling author Rupi Kaur. Her poetry books have helped ground me as well.
2.) Mindfulness/Intention Journals. I picked up the one I am currently using at TJ Maxx. It asks you grounding questions such as "How did you take care of yourself today?", "What's your intention for tomorrow?", "What's important to you?", and "How will you embody it?". Intention journals can help you narrow in on your goals without thinking too much about what *could* happen. It helps me see things clearly. If they're not super into writing, "The Five -Minute Journal" is a great alternative and requires minimal time.
3.) Bath bombs or shower steamers. My personal favorite bath bombs are from Lush, but they are sold at many retailers. Finding one with lavender would be an excellent and relaxing gift. If the person you are purchasing for doesn't take baths, shower steamers are a great alternative. You simply put them on the floor of your shower and the hot water releases the steam. They are also great for when you have a cold!
4.) Adult coloring books. Who doesn't love to color?! These are always a great gift option for anyone. Maybe grab some colored pencils or gel pens for them if you don't think they have them. These can be found online, but Target and Walmart always have a great selection.
I included pictures of the journals that I talked about above!
